App license

Version

Embed the TTF files in the license holder's own applications and games. This is version 2026-09 of the text. A license is governed by the version recorded on its receipt or license certificate, which does not change when a later version is published.

What it covers

The App license covers embedding the TTF files in applications and games the license holder publishes, on any platform: mobile, desktop, console, TV or wearable. One license covers one title, meaning one app or game and its versions, across all of its platforms. A second title needs a second license.

Games

Games are covered the same way as apps, including in-game text, menus and rendered captions. Marketing material for the game falls under Desktop, Web or Advertising, depending on where it appears.

Embedding protection

The font files must be embedded so that users of the app cannot extract, copy or install them. Rendering text with the fonts inside the app is the permitted use; exposing the files is not.

Monthly active users or downloads

The tier is measured either as monthly active users or as total downloads of the title, whichever the license holder tracks. Tier 1 covers 2,500 monthly active users or 2,500 downloads. Choose the reading at purchase; the receipt records it.

Apps that let users create outputs

An app that offers the fonts to its users for making their own designs, documents or images, such as an editor or a template service, is not covered by this schedule and needs a separate arrangement by contact.
