Broadcasting license
Version
Use the fonts in film, television and streaming productions. This is version 2026-09 of the text. A license is governed by the version recorded on its receipt or license certificate, which does not change when a later version is published.
What it covers
The Broadcasting license covers text set in the fonts in a production shown on television, in cinemas or on streaming services: titles, captions, graphics and on-screen text. One license covers one production and its promotional material. The tiers here read against a single production, and the terms for a network or channel on-air identity are agreed in writing with hippopotype before that license is issued.
Budget or audience
The tier is measured either as the production budget or as the expected audience, whichever the license holder tracks. Tier 1 covers a budget of 25,000 or an audience of 25,000. Choose the reading at purchase; the receipt records it. The currency a production budget is read in is United States dollars (USD).
Promotional use
Trailers, posters, thumbnails and social material for the licensed production are included. Paid advertising for the production above the Desktop scope follows the Advertising schedule.
