Web license
Version
Self-host the WOFF2 files on the license holder's own websites and web apps. This is version 2026-09 of the text. A license is governed by the version recorded on its receipt or license certificate, which does not change when a later version is published.
What it covers
The Web license covers serving the WOFF2 files from the license holder's own websites and web applications with CSS @font-face, so text renders in the fonts in the visitor's browser. It covers every site and domain the license holder owns, as long as the combined traffic stays inside the tier.
Visitors or page views
The tier is measured either as monthly unique visitors or as monthly page views across all sites using the fonts, whichever the license holder tracks. Tier 1 covers 5,000 monthly visitors or 20,000 monthly page views. Choose the reading at purchase or claim; the receipt or license certificate records it.
Hosting and CDNs
The files may be served from the license holder's own servers or from a CDN or hosting provider the license holder controls. Serving the files for other people's sites is not permitted. Reasonable technical measures, such as referrer checks or hashed file names, are encouraged but not required.
Staging and development
Development, staging and preview environments of licensed sites are included and do not count toward traffic.
Web apps
Web applications behind a login count their users as visitors. A web app that lets the public create and download work with the fonts, such as a design tool, is not covered here and needs a separate arrangement.
When traffic grows
When traffic grows past the tier, the license moves to the tier that covers it, as the agreement sets out.
